Hi, all. First off, Happy Holidays to everyone in the SDF Correspondence School. Happy Holidays because I am participating in the Liberal War on Christmas. A late Happy Chanukah to the Jewish Contingent, a Merry Christmas to the gentiles, and a Happy New Year to the drunks.

That being said, Our Beloved Chairman has some education to drop on your asses.

We have a lot of members, some of whom aren't even on the blog. But I haven't seen or heard of as many postcards as we have members. If you've joined but have not made a card for anyone this year, Our Beloved Chairman will take you off the list of participants unless you mail one out and tell me with a scanned image or picture of you holding that day's newspaper and the card you made to show that you did make and mail a card. I hate to be a hard-ass about this, and I understand that everyone is busy. But if you can't participate, you're not really contributing anything and you have a slot that could be filled by someone that actually wants to play an active role here.

If you're a brand new member, don't worry about this, but everyone that's been here since the summer to September/October...well, what the fuck? Where have you been?

I'll mail out an updated list of Diagram Factory Workers soon, along with this message to anyone that doesn't check the blog regularly.

Another pictureless post, but it concerns one of our Proletarian Diagram Factory comrades.

Margo Dabaie has recently sat down for an interview with Friends of Lulu regarding her work and background. Our Beloved Chairman is of the opinion that we should all rise to the occasion and congratulate one of our own and allow Margo the joy of seeing us all seethe with envy and impotent rage as she sits upon her ivory tower and drink the blood of her enemies from a chalice of bone. For that is what the word "success" truly means.

Margo Dabaie, you are the first Shelton Diagram Factory Correspondence School Employee of the Month!

If any of our other Comrades in the Shelton Diagram Factory have equally noteworthy achievements and would like a chance at Employee of the Month status, feel free to email Our Beloved Chairman. Hey, everybody. Our Beloved Chairman would just like to express his extreme pleasure with the way things have gone so far. Lots of great stuff happening and He considers the program and blog to be a great success. Keep up the good work!

There are some new folks in there and on the way (assuming they email Our Beloved Chairman soon), so please, especially if you don't already know them, send them some cool artwork. If you don't know everybody, don't hesitate to post on here with website/likes and dislikes/what-have-you. We'll have a pathetic little Internet Get-To-Know-Each-Other Party.

As usual, if there are complaints (like sending someone a postcard and not receiving a reciprocation in 6-8 weeks) please email Our Beloved Chairman (sdfcorrespondence@gmail.com) with your grievances at which point Our Beloved Chairman will likely scoff at your impertinence for addressing Him directly about your petty concerns.

My very first SDF. Phil has become a total gouache resist virtuoso.

Phil said he "wasn't happy with the robot" so he made this one for me, as well. I do have to say I'm more fond of it, but thats because my heart belongs to pirates. Thump, thump.

I was totally pleased to receive this one, by Mike Freheit. Indeed, nothing makes me happier than a hawt yeti proclaiming his love.

Hi, everybody! I'm James Keegan, fledgling illustrator and founder of the Shelton Diagram Factory Correspondence School. The idea behind the correspondence school is that, after graduating from SVA and moving away from each other, I thought it would be nice if a lot of us could stay in contact and maintain a kind of "virtual artist's community" through the mail and internet. So, what happens when you're a member of the SDF Correspondence School is that a member would email me with their address and email address, which would then be added to a list compiled of other members which is then distributed. Each member then produces an original piece of art for another participant on a postcard sized piece of paper (roughly 4"x6"). Any style, any medium, so long as it is an original piece made for that person. Then, it's dropped in the mail and the person receiving the artwork must make a piece in return for that person.

Since this is a great eclectic group of folks participating and since I'm so ding dong happy with the pieces that I have received, I thought it would be great to start this blog as a way of sharing the bounty of the program. I encourage each member to start posting on this space with scanned pieces received through the program from other people. Do not post any of your own artwork on this space, since it's really about sharing what cool stuff you've got from other folks and encouraging people to say,"Shit! I want something cool like that! I'll make that person a card!" Right? Plus, I want everyone that didn't join our little community to know how much fun we're having and how they missed out by being crumb bums. Yes, most if not all of what I do is meant to fulfill a grudge against someone that usually doesn't even realize I'm mad at them. Fred Savage, I will destroy you!!

This is also an opportunity to post some info about yourself for other members of the program that may not have met you, so that we can all have a little internet "get to know each other party" right here. We'll add a link section of everyone's website as soon as I figure out how to do it. So let's get started!

The first pieces I received were from Phil Conigliaro, fellow Connecticut artist and Dungeons and Dragons buddy. This here is a gouache resist of Yoda. Yoda came in an envelope with...

the Dungeon Master from the old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon show! We've agreed for a long time that he resembles Yoda in a man suit, which (coupled with the fact that I am the Dungeon Master for the group, a kinky title for a less than sexy job) probably lead to Phil making these together.

Margo Dabaie made this piece, which is full of pathos, symbolism and social commentary on the plight of... yeah, it's not really about anything. But it's funny as hell and it's driving me slowly insane. Fantastic!

The most recent card I received is from Thomas Pitilli. Playing to the mandatory Asian woman fetish that all big white nerds possess will get you everywhere, Tom!
